First Runner Up for the
2018 Student of The Year



The Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program First Runner Up is a self-assured, highly intelligent and an extra-ordinary student. Nikhil Unwala is an 11 year old Prefect Leader at Queen’s College – Primary, New Providence. He maintained an accumulative grade point average of 3.97. Nikhil has an impressive IQ of 146 and is a member of MENSA (an international program for gifted students.)

Nikhil is an enthusiastic golfer, an exemplary leader and role model for his peers. He is a true humanitarian, supporting efforts of The Bahamas Red Cross, The Salvation Army and The Cancer Society of The Bahamas.

Nikhil, an avid reader, published his own book in Grade one and was crowned “Mr. Read-A-Lot” in 2014. He also has a strong passion for writing and was a Finalist, The Templeton Laws of Life Competition and a Finalist in the Sir Durward Knowles 100th Birthday Celebration Essay Competition. He represented Queen’s College Primary, in the BAISS Spelling Bee Competition, and was the District Winner. As the District Winner, he represented BAISS in the Bahamas National Spelling Bee in March 2018. He was a Finalist.

He is a Library Assistant; Member of the Reading, Chess Clubs and a CCD participant at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. He also represented his school as a member of the Social Studies and Math Teams. Nikhil is the son of Drs. Darius and Rashmi Unwala.
